The Estes Park Aerial Tramway was built by Robert Heron, a successful international tramway builder, in 1955. Soaring high above Estes Park the tram provides visitors with views of Rocky Mountain National Park. The original cables are still in function with counterweights for each tram cable at 48,000lbs and the other at 52,000lbs. Requiring a counterbalance system, one tram always goes up while the other goes down.
